Dear Friend,

Around 50 million people in the United States alone suffer from chronic sinusitis. It often occurs after you have had a cold or flu and it causes pain in your head and in your face. It isn’t very nice at all especially if it chronic as the sinusitis infection never goes away.

Your sinus is located in between your eyes around the eyebrow position and in each cheek of either side of the nose but these ones are called maxillary sinus. That is why when we have an infection we feel pain and pressure in these two areas. Most sinus infections are classed as acute as they will go away possibly before 12 weeks. When we do get an infection it causes our sinus to swell and that’s why we get this pressure feeling.

There are a lot of things that affect our sinus and cause infections, for example when your nose is blocked due to a cold the sinus is then unable to drain properly so therefore causes infection. Here are some other causes of sinusitis.

  • Respiratory problems- as mentioned above things like the common cold and flu that cause inflammation and thickening of the membranes. Then causing congestion as they can’t drain properly it then causes an infection as it is unable to drain.
  • Obstruction within in the nose- by saying this I mean things like nasal polyps which are small growths within the nose blocking the passage of the sinus and also a septum that is no longer in is correct position can also cause an obstruction again preventing the sinus from doing its job.
  • Allergies (allergic reactions) - is again a common cause of sinusitis, every allergic reaction that occurs will cause the same problem for the sinus causing it to become inflamed many thing cause and allergic reaction such as dust mites and animals.
  • Hay fever- probably the worst as many get hay fever due to the amount of pollen in the air again causing the sinus to swell and prevent it from doing its job so imagine in the summer when nearly every day the pollen count is high due to people mowing their lawns and such other things. It could possibly last longer than the above causes

Some have been known to use herbal remedies to help treat sinusitis, they are supposed to be good for us and have been used in medicine to help treat disease but be warned they do contain certain active substances that can cause unwanted side effects. It is advised you should seek medical advice before mixing herbal substances with any other medication.

It may be easier to control the amount of times you suffer from sinusitis if you recognize what causes your allergies and avoiding them as best you possibly can. But unfortunately some of us are allergic to the strangest things like mould. It is known that herbs can help strengthen the body’s immune system which could help the allergies but again seek medical advice if you are on other medication.

We should all take care when it comes to our sinusitis we should be monitoring your health on a regular basis, taking notice of what affects our sinus can then help towards curing that irritating feeling.

I was suffering with sinusitis terribly after having trouble with it for 15 years I began to live with it but then realized it’s my body and I need to fix it when a friend of mine said there was a guide online that has tips and information for easing the problem I laughed. I had lived with it for 15 years I downloaded the guide anyway and was thrilled with the outcome. I had suffered so long I forgot what normal felt like. If I could meet the person who wrote the guide I would shake his hand.
